Doorbell for apartment buildings: one plate in the lobby, every resident answers on their phone

By the Dringbell team

Dringbell is a doorbell for apartment buildings with no wiring: a plate with a QR code is placed in the lobby. Visitors point their phone at it, choose the apartment from the list, and the resident answers by audio or video on their phone. Each resident signs up on their own and pays for their own subscription: the co-owners and the property manager pay nothing.

Why is a building's intercom a problem?

  • The intercom is broken, and replacing it requires building work and a vote at the general meeting of co-owners.
  • The names on the mailboxes are out of date: visitors do not know where to ring.
  • The resident is not at home: the courier leaves with the parcel.

How does Dringbell work in an apartment building?

  • A plate in the lobby

We set up the building and provide its QR code, for you to print or have engraved. No cables, no building work.

  • Visitors choose the apartment

They point their phone at the plate, see the list of registered residents and ring the right person, on their phone.

  • Each resident chooses what is displayed

Name, apartment number or both. They can hide from the list or leave the building at any time.

  • Nothing for the property manager to manage

Residents sign up on their own by scanning the plate. A resident who already had Dringbell simply links their account.

How do you equip an apartment building?

  1. 1

The property manager or the co-owners' council requests access: we set up the building and provide the QR code.

  2. 2

The plate is placed in the lobby, near the mailboxes or the old intercom.

  3. 3

Each resident scans the plate, signs up, chooses what is displayed, and receives their visitors on their phone.

Frequently asked questions from property managers and residents

Does Dringbell replace the intercom and open the door?
Dringbell connects the visitor with the resident by audio or video. It does not control the electric door strike: the resident comes down to open the door or guides the visitor.
Who pays?
Each resident pays for their own subscription. The co-owners and the property manager have nothing to pay or collect.
Is a vote at the general meeting of co-owners required?
No building work is needed: a plate is placed in the lobby. The decision to place a plate in the common areas remains with your co-owners.
Can a resident choose not to appear in the list?
Yes. Each resident chooses whether they appear in the lobby list and what is displayed, and can leave the building at any time.
What happens if a resident moves out?
They leave the building from their settings and disappear from the list. At the property manager's request, we can also remove a resident.
Can visitors see phone numbers?
Never. They only see the name or apartment number chosen by the resident.
